The Katsina State Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Alhaji Ya'u Umar Gwajo-gwajo has commended the state governor for distributing 20,000 metric tons of fertilizer to farmers to boost their production.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Katsina, the AFAN Chairman recalled that the last time fertilizer was procured in the state was seven years ago.

Similarly, the AFAN Chairman commended the governor for distributing 722 motorcycles as well as insecticides and pesticides to 722 newly recruited extension agents to educate farmers in the 361 wards across the state on modern farming techniques.

He said these gestures to enhance agricultural production prove that Malam Dikko Radda is indeed a seasoned academic with a Ph.D in Agricultural Extension.

The AFAN Chairman said farmers in the state are also expecting more assistance in terms of farming inputs and mechanized farming implements in line with the state government's plan to boost agricultural production.

He noted that since the return of democracy in Nigeria, no governor has distributed as much fertilizer in Katsina State as Mallam Dikko Radda.

Gwajo-Gwajo therefore urged the farmers in the state to make effective use of the fertilizers to produce ample food and also encouraged them to continue praying for peace in the state and the country as a whole.
